Apparently this $8 watch suggests that “the wearer has been trained in bomb making by al-Qaida in Afghanistan.”
“The Casio was known to be given to the students at al-Qaida bomb-making training courses in Afghanistan at which the students received instruction in the preparation of timing devices using the watch.”
Here’s a statement from one of the detainee’s named Sabri Mohammed Ebrahim, who has been held for 8+ years without any formal charges, about the Casio watch he was found with, “All I know about the watch is that it is a Casio… I know it has a compass. When we pray we have to face Mecca.” [source: BBC from 2006]
Here’s a list of a few other detainee’s found with Casio watches and statements/ references made about them in the media prior to this leak. I won’t deny that al-Qaeda hands them out or even uses them to coordinate attacks but to use a watch owned by millions around the world as absolute evidence of a link to al-Qaeda, and therefore as a justification to torture/ detain someone without charges for an indeterminate amount of time, is disgraceful, absurd and a filthy perversion of all that we stand for, to say the least.
Also this is a reminder that you should probably buy yours now before the hipsters do.

This is my watch, the Casio w-102. I use it to know when my break is at work, should I be tortured too?
