    BNF

The fatosphere community reminds me of the fandom communities I was apart of a few years back. Especially the wank (the wank over the so called “fat” girl who never wore over a size 6 anyone?) but the things that reminds me of it the most are the BNFs (Big Name Fans) they are the ones that write the popular fanfiction or drew the best pictures, alot of the time to the point where their fiction would become fanon (fan canon) and anyone that would deviate form that canon was rejected. They were the TV brand “popular girls” whether they wanted to be our not. Most of the time it wasn’t bad, when done right they gave constructive help to those trying to perfect their work, encouraged de-lurking, and welcome newcomer to the group, delighted that someone else was also interested in their fandom. But then there are cases when it’s done wrong, BNF’s so elevated that their ego’s bloated and they saw themselves as above everyone else, and the community became exclusive.
